9V Adapter for better LEDS - any version?

Hi,

I have a DS1 and a Base II and I have been experiencing issues with seeing the backlit LEDs in broad daylight. I have a few 9V adapters lying around my studio, but I don't want to plug them in to my controllers and have them get fried or malfunction. Does anyone know if any 9V adapter will work for the DS1 and/or Base II? I'd like to get some advice before I go plugging things in.
